Emily O. [Oliver} Gibbes was the granddaughter of Robert Oliver, merchant of Baltimore, Maryland. His biography, written by Stuart Weems Bruchey, was published by Johns Hopkins Press in 1956. He had two children: Margaret Oliver Colt and Emily Oliver Gibbes. Emily Oliver Gibbes had a daughter of the same name. The younger Emily Gibbes was a resident of Newport, Rhode Island.
